Ellef Anderson, former Tracy resident, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.W. Kraushaar of Pierre, S.D., on February 9 of old age. Mr. Anderson would have celebrated his ninetieth birthday in another month had he lived.

Ellef Anderson was born March 13, 1840 in Brodsderred, Norway and came to America in 1867 settling in Fillmore county, Minnesota and in 1872 he moved to Lyon county then being first opened to settlers. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Christi Olson in August 1874, whose husband had frozen to death about two years previous in the terrific snowstorm of January 7, 1873. The young couple went thru all the hardships of the early pioneers of the seventies. They lived on the farm until some years ago when they moved to Tracy where they lived for a number of years. Since Mrs. Anderson's death in December 1925, Mr. Anderson has been making his home with his children. He is survived by four children: Mrs. F.M. Willard of Timber Lake, S.D.; Mrs. A.A. Selseth of Minneapolis; Mrs. R. W. Kraushaar of Pierre, S.D.; Oluf Anderson of Tracy; Mr. Elmer Anderson of St. Louis and Mr. Ole Olson of Tracy. All of the children attended the funeral with the exception of Elmer of St. Louis. Mr. Anderson is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The remains were brought here for burial, services being held at the Holand church on February12, Rev. U.L. Larsen of the church officiating. Interment was made in the Holand cemetery. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Kraushaar, Pierre, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Selseth, Minneapolis, Mrs. F.M. Willard, Timber Lake, S.D.
