Charles "Dutch" Funk, Jr., age 55, of Carriere, formerly of Gulfport, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Funk lived most of his life in Gulfport before moving to Carriere. He was a 1979 graduate of the Univ. of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Industrial Technology. While living in Gulfport, he was a member of St. James Catholic Church and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and he recently joined St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune. He was employed at Metal Tech in Gulfport and he enjoyed working outside and around his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Funk, Sr., and Barbara Flynn Funk.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Spies Funk of Carriere, his children, Meredith Funk (Brian) Carriere, and Matthew Charles Funk, of Gulfport, his 5 siblings, Charlene Funk Mattina, Josslyn Funk Clark, Karl (Tina) Funk, Michael Patrick (Sherry) Funk, and Eric Joseph (Tina) Funk, his 3 grandchildren, Carolina, Carter, and Carlin Carriere, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
