Stanley Ray Detherage, youngest of the four sons born to Stanford Raymond Detherage and Anna Leona "Anne" Moore. His older brothers were Kenneth, Leon, and Thomas. All were born in Oklahoma where Stanley lived with his family until their move to California, and Madera County shortly before 1940.
Ray, as he was known, attended Madera High School where he enjoyed being a part of the boxing team.
He enlisted in the Navy on 15 Mar 1943 at age 17 and was released from duty on 31 Jan 1946.
Ray and Martha Elizabeth Harrell married in 1951 in Madera, CA where they had one son Kenneth Richard Deatherage (1952-1990). After their divorce a couple of years later, Ray married Roberta Ann Burns in Washoe County, NV. From this marriage his second son was born, Kevin Shawn Detherage (1957-2010).
Ray and his wife Roberta lived in Fresno where he worked as a salesman for Reid & Wright.
He died in Madera County at the age of 71.
