After James' death, his wife Jane returned to Augusta County to live with her mother Margaret "Peggy" and her older brother William. Their eldest daughter, Mary Adeline DeVer, married a relation, John Patterson (most probably a cousin) and lived very near the original DeVier property. Mary and John Patterson's son, Herbert owned that same property until the 1960's when it was sold to the Craun family. Another family cemetery (DeVier Family Cemetery #1) was located on this property.

Jane's remains were eventually moved from the DeVier Cemetery to Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
