James F. Gebhardt, 72 of 1643 State Route 103, Sycamore, died at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993, in Heartland of Bucyrus. He had been in failing health for the past two years.

Mr. Gebhardt was born May 19, 1920, in Lykens Township, Crawford County to Karl F. and Caroline (Bertsch) Gebhardt, who preceded him in death. He was married June 16, 1943, to Evelyn V. (Brause) Gebhardt, who survives.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Albert Gebhardt, and a sister, Mrs. Earnest (Agatha) Ruth.

A 1938 graduate of Lykens High School, Mr. Gebhardt lived his entire life in the community. He was an area auctioneer since 1957, farmed and owned the former Tri-County Insurance Agency. He was a past Crawford County fair board secretary and a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

At the request of the family, no calling hours will be observed.

Private graveside services will be held Saturday at Brokensword Cemetery with the Rev. Edgar Schambach officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor's choice through the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
