Later in life, he served as a U.S. Naval Photographer at the U.S. Naval Shipyard at Philadelphia and an officer in Civil Air Patrol, the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, rising to the rank of Captain and commanding Upper Main Line Composite Squadron 1006 in Paoli.
He was also a civilian professional photographer.
He died in 1990, leaving his spouse, Grace Lorentz Lock, 2 daughters, Anita and Connie; and 5 grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his son Robert.
