∼Mrs. McClure was a native and resident for many years in Yancey County and had resided in Asheville since 1968. She retired as a First Grade School Teacher having taught at Bald Creek and Sand Hill Elemetary School's for over 37 years. She was a graduate of Asheville Normal Teacher's College and of Appalachian Teacher's College.
Mrs. McClure was a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville and while living in Yancey County was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Swiss.
She was the daughter of the late Lattie R. and Nora Idella Hensley Carter and the wife of her late first husband, Edgar William Ray, Sr. and her late second husband, Robert Garrett McClure, Sr.
