Carrie Shake, 82, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday at the Ketchem Memorial Nursing Center.
She was born on Nov. 29, 1917, in Daviess County, to Herschel and Stella (Quankenbush) Carmichael. She married Jerry Shake, on Aug. 24, 1935 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1993.
Carrie was a homemaker and Elnora United Methodist Church member.
Surviving are: a daughter, Alice Bland, Odon; five sons, Jerry R. Shake, Owensburg; the Rev. Jack Shake, Mitchell; Donald Shake, Bloomington; Mike Shake, Raglesville and David Shake, Elnora; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by: a sister, Leona Shake; a brother, Jack Carmichael; a son, John William Shake; a daughter, Leona Catherine Shake and a grandson, Jerry Bland.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elnora United Methodist Church. The Revs. John Like and Paul Huntsman will officiate. Interment will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home, Odon, and 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday at the church.
