Mr. Raymond Lee Mulkey, Jr., 63, of Fayetteville died Monday, August 16, 2010 at his Myrtle Beach, SC home. He was born on October 26, 1946 in Demorest, GA to the late Raymond Lee Mulkey, Sr. and Edith Carpenter Mulkey.

After his father's death when Ray was only 12, he and his mother moved to Dunn. Ray attended Dunn High School and graduated from Frederick's Military Academy in 1964. He received his BS degree in Business Administration and his second degree in Trust Management both from Campbell University in 1968. Ray started his career as a Trust Officer for Waccamaw Bank in Whiteville, NC. He purchased his first insurance agency in 1976. He was a member of American Legion, a member of Palmyra Masonic Lodge #147 and Sudan Temple in New Bern. Ray served as Past President of the Harnett County Board of Realtors, and was a member of both the North Carolina and the National Board of Realtors. Mr. Mulkey was a founding director of New Century Bancorp and became a member of the Corporation's Board of Directors in 2008. He also served on the local Board of Directors of United Carolina Bank, First Citizens Bank and Trust, and Branch Banking and Trust Company. He was President of Mulkey & Associates, Inc., President of N.C. Premium Finance Companies, Inc., President of Ray Mulkey Realty, Inc. and Partner of Southeastern Insurance Services.

A graveside service will be held Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn by Father John Sharpe. The family will recieve friends follow the service.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Denning Mulkey of Dunn, and Raymond Lee Mulkey, III and wife Laura of Fayetteville.

At the family's request, memorials may be made to The Edith C. Mulkey and Raymond L. Mulkey, Jr., Living Endowment Scholarship Trust, Campbell University, Inc. P.O. Box 97, Buies Creek, NC 27506. Arrangements are entrusted to Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn, NC.
