March 21, 1922 - August 14, 2010

Benito Soto Martinez, of Holbrook, passed away August 14, 2010 in Mesa. He was 88. Benito was born March 21, 1922 in Taylor, AZ to the late Encarnicion and Petra (Soto) Martinez.

Benito was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army before being employed with the Santa Fe Railroad as a mechanic and machine operator. A very caring, thoughtful and generous man, he will be known for his helpful ways and his enormous heart. He was always giving back to members in the Holbrook community.

Benito loved being outdoors and especially hunting and fishing. He loved all animals and nature in general. He also enjoyed learning about herbs and their many uses.

He is survived by his daughters, Bertha (Richard) Allen of Holbrook, Inez (Roland) Schulz of Mesa, Edwina (Mike) Immucus of Missouri, Yolanda Jaramillo of Mesa, Geraldine Abeytia of Mesa, Cecilia Martinez of Mesa; son, Bennie (Tracy) Martinez, Jr.; 23 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren as well as many extended family members and friends.

A viewing and visitaion will be held from 6:00PM-8:00PM Thursday August 19, 2010 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook with the Recitation of the Rosary begining at 7:00PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Friday August 20, 2010 also at the church. Interment will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery.
