Canton - Robey Lee Buchanan, 90, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Mission Hospital, Memorial Campus.

A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Cicesro and Anne Bradley Buchanan. Robey was valedictorian and former class president of Canton High School in 1938. He was a United States Navy veteran. Robey was owner of Bucky's Drive In and Family Cloth Shop. He retired from Champion International with 45 years service and was a member of Candler Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Cora Lucille Towe Buchanan; two sons, Ronald Buchanan of Hickory and Max Buchanan of Augusta, Ga.; one daughter, Patricia Wilde of Canton; 18 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, with the Dr. Robin Wilde officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Bon AVenture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
