Fred was born on Jan 27, 1916 in Wilkin County, MN, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Schultz) Andel. He grew up on the farm, attended local schools and farmed with his Dad. He also had 80 acres of land that he farmed north of Evedell. In 1940 he married Grace Raeder and they farmed north of Everell where, in 1942, they cut and baled 880 acres of hay. They then bought 80 acres of land north of Foxhome, MN where they lived until 1950. One year Fred worked for Bud Lee doing farm work for $35 a week. In 1951 they moved to Breckenridge where Fred worked at the railroad roundhouse for a short time. He then went to work for the Soil Conservation in Wahpeton where he planted trees, surveyed and did spraying for 26 years. In 1958 they bought their home at 412 N. 9th St., Breckenridge. The greatest joy in Fred's life was then he started playing the button accordion in The Dance Band with his boys. Fred started playing professionally in 1969 and traveled with the band to many towns. When Fred wasn't on stage he was a great promoter, getting more jobs for the coming months. He was loved by so many people he played for because of his smile and genuine care for people. Fred passed away on April 26, 1975 at Breckenridge.
