Jim Don Howerton of Springfield died Aug. 9 of heart failure. He was 68.
Howerton was born May 5, 1942, in Duncan, Okla., to Elmer and Nellie McClard Howerton.
He married his first wife Lumarlous in 1961. He was 19 and she was 16.
He married his second wife Leslie Benton on May 3, 1971, in Lane County.
He graduated from high school in Oklahoma and worked as a welder.
Survivors include a son, Jim Howerton of Oklahoma; two daughters, Anne Hankins and Tabatha Howerton-Meyer, both of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.
