Rudolph Vajgrt, 81

Rudolph "Rudy" Vajgrt, 81, 605 W. Main St., a former Marshalltown businessman, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, at home of cancer.
Services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Bower of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Bur¬ial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.


Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice or the First Presbyte¬rian Church.
He was born April 22, 1912, in Ferguson, the son of Rudolph and Anna Bukacek Vajgrt. He received his education in the area of his birth and he graduated from Ferguson High School in 1930. He married Rose Polak in Cedar Rapids on March 23. 1940. They lived their entire married lives in Marshalltown.
He was employed with Strand Baking Co. for 41 years as the owner and operator until 1977 when he sold the company to Old Home Baking Co. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Western Fraternal Life Association and the First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, Dennis Vajgrt, Marshalltown; two grandchildren; three brothers, Louie, Joe and Otto, all of Marshalltown; and a sister, Stella Andrist, Marshalltown.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a son in infancy.
