J.A. Hamilton, known as Uncle Jim, was born in Webster County, Miss., and fell asleep in Jesus on Saturday morning. Services were held at the home of his son, Lewis Hamilton, conducted by Rev. Boiles of Gustine. He was another one of those old Confederate soldiers. He volunteered his service to the Civil War in 1862. He served in the Infantry till the surrender of 1865. He belonged to C.O.B. 3 Miss. Regiment, and Co. H-31 Miss. Regiment Consolidated. He joined the Methodist Church in August 1865 and lived a consecrated Christian life. He married Miss Catherine Lewis on 13 November 1866 near Starkville, Mississippi. Grandpa leaves a wife and two sons, Silas Hamilton and Lewis Hamilton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren to mourn his departure.
