Helen Powell, 78, of 3789 Peck Pike Road, Milton, Ky., died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at The Waters of Clifty Falls.


She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Oldham County, Ky., the daughter of Clarence and Sally Kincade Abbott. She was a member of the Milton Homemakers and the Mt. Byrd Christian Church.


Surviving are her husband, Chester Powell: one daughter, Carol Tingle of Madison; three sons, Jim Powell of Danville, Ky., and Norman and Chet Powell, both of Madison; two sisters, Mary Powell of Madison and Beatrice Etherington of Lexington, Ky.; one brother, C.A. Abbott of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Norman Abbott.


Services will be at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the Mt. Byrd Christian Church, with burial in Moffett Cemetery in Milton.


Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. EDT today and after 9 a.m. EDT Tuesday at the Wood0Oakley Funeral Home in Milton.
