In 1835/36 Vincent and wife (Elizabeth Thompson) along with his mother (Rebecca Vincent) moved from Fayette Co. to Marshall Co., IND. This group of settlers which included many of our ancestors (The Thompsons, Lewis's and Brownlees) were the first settlers in this County and a memorial to them has been erected to them. Vincent settled near Lake Maxenkukee in Union Twp. The first school in that area was on land donated by Vincent. On 20 Aug. 1828 Vincent sold a parcel of land in Fayette Co. to Phillip Pollard for the sum of $350.00. In a letter from Vincent to his daughter, Sally Brownlee Bailey, dated June 3, 1870 he states..."we are getting old. Day after tomorrow I will be sixty Seven (67) years old.
