Robert Edward Babbitt was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Force, assigned as a Pilot flying in a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt in the 486th Fighter Squadron, 352nd Fighter Group "The blue nosed bastards of Bodney".

Robert was KIA in a dogfight with two BF-109G and crashed near Goirle, Holland, on Nov. 30, 1943, and he is honored with tan Air Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WW II Victory Medal.
