115 Squadron's Avro Lancaster (#PB130) aircraft, with an aircrew of seven, took off from RAF Witchford for an air operation over Amayé-sur-Seulles in France to bomb German strong points in the Normandy area. In difficult cloudy conditions, PB130 was one of four Lancasters lost in this major operation, crashing and taking the lives of the entire crew.
