Godfrey - John Warren Godfrey, 57, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at a hospital in Chapel Hill, NC The son of John Godfrey and Madeline Pearl Bestpitch. He was born on November 15, 1940 in Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Godfrey was a retired Master Sargent in the U.S. Air Force and a retired Pardon & Parole agent.

He was a Civil War re-enactor and was a member of the 10th South Carolina Artillery Unit.

He is survived by his wife, Juanda L. Owens Godfrey, 2 daughters: Kimberly DeCincio of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Lila Godfrey of Summerville, S.C., one sister: Alice Regan of Fayetteville and 1 grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the 10th Soutn Carolina Re-enactment Group, c/o William Creech.

He was a Vietnam Veteran . He was a Crew Chief and a Flight Engineer on the C-7A Caribou AirCraft stationed in Anke and Phuka, Viet Nam 1966-1967

He retired from USAF as a MSGT (11/1958-12/1979)

His awards encluded the Air Medal with three Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Metal,Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Graduate Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with One Silver and One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Repubic of Vietnam Campain Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Metal with One Silver and One Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters
