HAMLET -- Mrs. Joseph P. (Callie Ellen) Bell, 82, RFD 1, Hamlet, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday in her home after an illness of 2 1/2 years.
She was born in Colfax, Ind., Sept. 23, 1879, and had resided in the Hamlet area for 25 years, coming from LaCrosse. On March 27, 1900, in Jefferson, Ind., she was married to Joseph P. Bell, who preceded her in death in 1951.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the LaCrosse Methodist church and the WSCS of the Hamlet Methodist church.
Surviving are two sons, Tom, Knox, and Jack, Hebron; seven daughters, Mrs. Mabel Stout, Valparaiso, Mrs. Leo Hyndman, Argos, Mrs. Leslie Williams, Hamlet, Mrs. Edwin Hahn, Crown Point, Mrs. Kenneth Spencer, LaCrosse, Mrs. Russell Flanigan and Mrs. Harold Phillips, Gary; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Hamlet Methodist church with the Rev. Robert Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, in LaCrosse.
Friends may call at the Rannells Funeral home in Hamlet after 6 p.m. today until noon Friday when the body will be taken to the church.
