Les Anderson of Portland, racing car driver, died at Emanuel Hospital of injuries received in a collision at Portland Speedway.

Anderson, who twice competed in the 500-mile Memorial Day classic at Indianapolis, and Art George of Los Angeles, were injured during the feature race at the speedway.
Anderson was trying to pass George on a turn and struck the leading car from the rear. Both machines turned over.

Anderson was well known up and down the Pacific Coast. He was a veteran driver and had competed on all of the leading auto racing tracks in the Northwest. He drove both the big cars and midgets.
