Joe was born to Milton A. Koplik and Dolly May (Murphy). Milton Koplik was a merchant marine. They separated when Joe was a baby. Dolly was born in Iowa on June 2, 1904 and died in September 1973. Dolly's family bible says
The Murphy's were from Ireland, and Amerika Murphy was the first of the family to be born in America.

Joe's mother was also married to Jim Glenn Good. This is the father Joe knew. Joe's mother also had a 3rd husband, Wilbur Robb. Joe grew up along with adopted brother Donald in Iowa.

"Papa" Joe left a son & daughter in-law, daughter & son in-law, adopted brother, 3 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great grandsons, 1 great granddaughter, special soul mate and lots of friends. He was involved with AA and sober for 17 years, walked close to Jesus, avid golfer, ballroom dancer, and was in the Air Force. He was a man of his word and very true and strong for his family. He is greatly missed by all who love him.
