FUNERAL SERVICES OF L.P. DEAN YESTERDAY
MANAGER OF ORLAND HOTEL AND CAFE DIED SUNDAY MORNING
Was Held in High Esteem--His Death Came as a Shock to the Entire Community
The funeral services of L.P. Dean, the popular manager of the Orlando hotel and cafe, who died at 6 o'clock Sunday morning, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, at the resident of Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Topliff, his wife's parents, on Jackson street, the services being conducted by the Loyal Order of Moose, of which the deceased was an ardent member, and the Rev. Dr. J.E. Wray, pastor of the Methodist church, and the Rev. Dr. Jno. Stagg, pastor of the Presbyterian church.
The funeral service was largely attended, and a large floral offering was in evidence, a fitting contribution to the memory of the departed, who was held in esteem and regard by his many friends in Orlando and by the hundreds with whom he came in contact from all parts of the country.
At the funeral several elections were rendered by Mrs. Jas. L. Giles and Miss Eliza Wright, one selection being "Asleep in Jesus." Following this the Loyal Order of Moose held its regular funeral service, followed later by interment, at which time the Moose again participated in the services at the grave.
He was one of the most popular hotel men in Florida and enjoyed a large acquaintance. He was a sterling business man and had a delightful personality.
He is survived by a widow and three children. He leaves two sisters, Miss Flora Dean and Mrs. James King, and two brothers, O.W. Dean and F.M. Dean, all of Kansas City. He was a member of the Methodist church and of the Loyal Order of Moose.
