Funeral services for Robert E. Grote, 75, 208 North Street, Union City, Ohio, who died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, in V.A. Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc. in Union City, Ind., with the Rev. Francis Crotinger officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Union Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio.
He was born May 6, 1921, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of Edward Grote and Clara Grote. He was a member of Eagles Lodge #2790, Elks Lodge #1534, American Legion Post #158, Union City V.F.W., and Greenville Moose Lodge 1139. He was secretary for Eagles Lodge #2790 for 46 years.
His wife, Gladys Grote, died in 1996.
Survivors include one son, Michael (wife Janis) Grote of Union City, Ind.; one daughter, Linda (husband Scott) Bailey of Union City, Ind.; three grandchildren and two sisters, Inez Clark and Betty Olwine, both of Greenville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Corliss Grote.
Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow and Eagles Lodge of Sorrow will be held tonight at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
