MUNCIE--Marguerite A. Kaufman, 99, Muncie resident, passed away peacefully in her own home Friday, May 10, 2002, at 9=8 p.m.
She was born Jan. 15, 1903, in Millgrove, Ind. She was the daughter of Austin B. and Edna B. Seaman Smith. She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1921.
Surviving are her son, Charles E. Kaufman (wife-Joyce), Muncie; and three grandsons, Kim E. Kaufman, (wife-Dianna) of Houston, Texas, Gregory L. Kaufman (wife-Arian) of Houston, Texas, and Richard C. Kaufman (wife-Diane) of Muncie; She has three great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters and several nephews and nieces. Marguerite Kaufman had a wonderful caregive, Wilda Slaven, during the last 3 years.
Mrs. Kaufman was precedd in death by her husband, Rev. Edward Earnest Kaufman, who died in 1976. Rev. and Mrs. Kaufman resided in several Indiana communities as pastor and wife of the United Methodist Church. The resided in Valentine, Howe, Wakarusa, Warren, Sheridan, Union City, and Bluffton, served as district superintendent of the Muncie District and resided in Elkhart, Kendalville and Muncie.
Bishop Dr. R. Sheldon Duecker will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. David Helm, who is senior pastor of Gethsemane United Methodist Church, and Rev. Jack Hartman, who is senior pastor of High Street United Methodist Church. Services will be held at The Meeks Mortuary Chapel, Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held 1 hour befoe the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Dunkirk.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church of peference.
