Grover Leonard Whitehurst, 53, of Tait Terrace, the husband of Mrs. Margaret Wilson Whitehurst and a native of Creeds, died Tuesday in a hospital.
He was retired from Food Town Markets and was an Army veteran of World War II, during which he was awarded the Silver Star.
Survivors also include his stepmother, Mrs. Rena Whitehurst of Norolk; two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Freeman and Mrs. Lorraine Dozier of Virginia Beach; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Linda Bornar and Miss Peggy Hawkins of Norfolk; three sons, Johnny Whitehurst of Creeds, and Grover Whitehurst and Michael Whitehurst of Virginia Beach; three stepsons, Army Pvt. Michael Hawkins of Ft. Jackson, S.C., and Rodger Hawkins and James Hawkins of Norfolk; and a brother, Clamon Whitehurst of Norfolk.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, by the Rev. John Baldwin. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
