Obituary - Joseph Flowers

Joseph Flowers was born in Peioria, Illinois, November 3, 1855 and passed away November 6, 1944 at the age of 89 years and 3 days.

We [sic] was married to Melvina Shehorn, September 20, 1879 and she preceded him in death in the year 1920.

To this union was born 10 children, two died in infancy. Those left to mourn his loss are George Flowers, Durham, Oklahoma, Mrs. Della Fox, Monument, Colorado; Mrs. Goldie Simpson, Monument, Colorado; Mrs. Elsie Kemp, Monument, Colorado; Mrs. Mevia Demeray, Burr Oak, Kansas;Mrs. Ina McClain, Smith Center, Kansas; Arthur Flowers, Edmond, Kansas; and Mrs. Edna Daily, Logan, Kansas.

One brother living in Walla Walla, Washington, and one sister living in Osborn, Mo.

Mr. Flowers came to Phillips county, Kansas in 1877 and took a homestead and made this his home until the last few years when he moved to Goodland, Kansas, where he made his home until he passed away. He united with the Christian Church at Logan in 1888 and continued steadfast in the faith until the end. The comments of all who knew him are, "He was a good man."

Funeral services were held in the Christian Church at Logan, Wednesday afternoon, November 8 at 2:30 with Rev. F.M. McDonald, Phillipsburg, in charge, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark, Mrs. Nick Fink and Walter Lappin sang the funeral hymns with Mrs. Wilma Reese accompanist. Interment was in the Logan cemetery.
