COLUMBIA - Johanna Suzanna Chinnis, 78, of Columbia, SC, died early Wednesday morning, April 22, in Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Born in Vienna, Austria, she was the widow of Thomas S. Chinnis of Ravenel, SC. Affectionately known as Susie to her friends, she was a giving, kind-hearted soul who loved cooking and enjoyed spending time with her children and their friends, to many of whom she became a "second mom." Her gang at Bingo will sorely miss her presence.
Survivors include: her son, Thomas R. and wife, Jeanette, Chinnis of Columbia, son, Joseph Archie and wife, Diane, Chinnis of Raleigh, NC, son, Harold R. and wife, Donna, Chinnis of Ravenel, SC, daughter, Sandra and husband, Tim, Ratte of Raleigh, NC, and son, Robert L. Chinnis and partner, Thomas Marino. She was also the grandmother of Alex, Cody, Hunter and Gracie Chinnis, as well as the great-grandmother of Trevor and Luke Branham.
The family will receive friends at Greenlawn Funeral Home on Friday, April 24th from 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 25th.
