His service involved seven major campaigns and battles, including the Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes, as well as Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received medals of commendation for saving other American soldiers lives from his artillery position. His journey took him to North Africa, Sicily, England, France, Belgium, and ended eight miles from Berlin, German.
