Ocoia Dexter Wilson was born on Aug. 8, 1914 in near Strunk, McCreary Co., Kentucky. He was the son of Harlan Jacob Wilson (1887-1965) and Amanda Etter "Mandy" King (1890-1964), the third of their twelve known children.
Ocoia's father, Harlan, was born in Pleasant Grove, Scott Co., Tennessee. He was the son of Henry M. Wilson (1851-1895) and Sarena Catherine "Reny" Moses (1848-1905).
Ocoia's mother, Mandy, was born near Strunk, Whitley Co. (now part of McCreary Co.), Kentucky. She was the daughter of Armpstead "Armp" King (1864-1933) and Courtney Josephine "Josie" Moses (1872-1962).
On April 20, 1938, Ocoia married Carrie Herring (1923-1971). She was the daughter of Hiram N. "Harm" Herring (1888-1970) and Nora Edna Riley (1888-abt 1954 ?).
Ocoia died on April 11, 1970 in Junction City at the age of 55. He is buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery (Wilson Cemetery #5) located on White Oak Road, just outside Junction City in Boyle Co., KY where his parents are buried.
