Nellie B. Wilson was born on November 17, 1916 in Strunk, McCreary Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Harlan Jacob Wilson (1887-1965) and Amanda Etter "Mandy" King (1890-1964). Like her husband she did not actually have a given middle name. However, as an adult she started using the initial B.

Nellie's father, Harlan, was born in the community of Pleasant Grove located near Winfield, Scott Co., TN. He died in Junction City, Boyle Co., KY. and was buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery located on White Oak Road just outside Junction City, Boyle Co., KY.

Nellie's mother, Mandy, was born in Strunk, Whitley Co. (now McCreary Co.), KY, died in Danville, Boyle Co., KY and was the first burial in the Wilson Family Fairview Cemetery. She was a great-granddaughter of Thomas Murray King (1790-1880) and Mary Rebecca "Polly" Cox (1800-1881

Nellie's paternal grandparents were Henry Wilson (1851-1895) and Sarenna Catherine "Reny" Moses (1848-1905). Both are buried in the Wilson Cemetery in Pleasant Grove (near Winfield), Scott Co., TN. The cemetery lies on/near their where their Pleasant Grove farm was located.

Her paternal great-grandparents were James Emanuel Wilson (1816-1862) and Elizabeth Mahala Strunk (1823-1911). Her paternal GG-grandparents were Marcus "Mark" Wilson (1795-1871) and Susannah "Susan" Moore (1799-1866), her paternal GGG-grandparents Joshua Wilson (1767-1835) and Sarah "Sally" Lykins (1767-1818).

Nellie's maternal grandparents were Holliday DeBerry "Holly" Moses (1818-1893) and Sarah Malissa Cordell (1823-1879). Nellie's maternal great-grandparents were Joshua Moses Jr. (1793-1875) and Anna Hackler (1798-1875). Her maternal GG-grandparents were Joshua Moses Sr. (1748-1975) and Jane Pleasant (1770-1830).

On the day after Christmas in 1929 Nellie's parents moved their large family from Strunk, McCreary Co., KY to Boyle Co., KY. Nellie was 13 at the time.

On July 27, 1935 she married Edward Jackson Stephens. She was 18, Edward 25. They had known each other when both their families lived in McCreary Co., KY. Edward had previously dated Nellie's older sister, Stella Wilson (1912-1977).

Edward and Nellie were married for 61 years and had six children. They are listed in Edward's Find-A-Grave memorial.

In 1942, Nellie and her husband Edward, moved their young family from Boyle Co., KY to Chester, Delaware Co., PA. There, Edward served his country in the WWII effort as a welder, building ships for the Navy.

After the war Edward and Nellie returned to Boyle Co., KY (Nov. 1, 1946). They soon purchased a farm just outside Junction City where they lived the rest of their lives. They supplemented their farm income by working at the Kentucky State Hospital. Nellie worked there for 30 years, Edward for 27 years.

Nellie was a loving wife and mother. She loved to sing and play the guitar that her husband had given her. She was a faithful church member where she often sang specials. She loved the Lord and spent many hours reading her Bible.

Nellie died on Sept. 5, 1995 at the age of 78 and was buried in the Wilson Fairview Cemetery in Boyle Co., KY. Husband, Edward, died a year later on Oct. 22, 1996 in Danville, KY and was buried beside his beloved wife in the Wilson Family Fairview Cemetery.
