"OBITUARY"
Edward D. Getz Sr., 83, of 910 Grove, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his son's drugstore, 1212 W. Franklin.
A retired farmer, he had lived with his daughter and son-in-son, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen J. (Ida) Stuart, on Grove Street, for the past seven years. He was associated with his son, Edward G. Getz Jr., in operation of the drugstore.
Born july 11, 1871, at Morton, Ill., the son of John George and Jacobena Summers Getz, he married Lydia Gerber on Dec. 31, 1893, at Fairbury, Ill. She died June 22. 1943, at Grabill, Ind.
Surviving in addition to the daughter and son here, are three other daughters, Mrs. Elias (Lydia) Souder and Mrs. Albert (Marjorie) Frautschi, both of Grabill; Mrs. John W. (Lillian) Leman, Eureka, Ill; four sons, John G., Oscar E., and Louis F. Getz, all of Fort Wayne; 21 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers, William and Samuel Getz, both of Morton.
Friends may call at Westbrook Funeral home after 7p.m. Thursday. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Saturday followed by services at 10:30 a.m. in the Apostolic Christian church in Bremen. The Rev. Herman Hueni, pastor of the church, of which Mr. Getz was a member, will be in charge. Mr. Getz will be buried in Leo Memorial Park cemetery at Leo.
