Nancy's mother is Hannah Levi. According to death records of their children, Hannah had two by David Whipple Sr, Nancy and an older brother David Jr. Hannah married James DeGolyer in 1847. It seems Nancy was then known as Ann DeGolyer.
There are contradictions to the birth of Nancy:
1850 Census, aged 10, b. 1840; actual age is 13 or 14.
1860 Census, not yet found, married to Harvey 1857.
1870 Census, aged 26 yrs, b. 1844; actual age 34.
1880 Census, aged 37 yrs, b. 1843; actual age 44.
1900 Census, aged 63 yrs, b. Jun 1836; correct age.
1910 Census, aged 76 yrs, b. 1834; actual age 73.
1918 Death Record, aged 82 yrs, b. 1836; correct age.
The confusion regarding her age will most likely never be solved. She may also have been born as early as 1835. But the year 1840 as a birth year appears to have been in error.
