The third of eight children born to John & Mary Ann (Levi) Clevenger of Brookville, Franklin Co IN, Henry married Nancy Ann Whipple-DeGolyer on 14 Feb 1857 in Ripley Co IN, daughter of Hannah (Levi) DeGolyer & David Whipple Sr of Osgood, Ripley Co IN.

Children with Nancy:
1) Mary M Clevenger (1858-1939), m: David Fields.
2) William Henry Clevenger (1859-1916), m: Mary Ellen Levi.
3) Sarah Jane Clevenger (1863-bef 1914), m: James Driver Jr.
4) Frederick "Froggy" H Clevenger (1865-1938), m: Anna Risk.
5) Martin Clevenger (1870-bef 1880)
6) Joseph Clevenger (1876-1914), m: Emily Catherine "Kate" Shepler.

Harvey worked on the railroad for a time during 1870, but supported his family as a day laborer in later years.

"CLEVENGER, Harvey; Male; County Book 5, p. 61; Remarks: Died 20 August 1914; Age 93 years 7 months [sic - 7 days]; Born 13 August 1821; Father John CLEVENGER, Mother Polly; Wife: [Nancy] Anne DeGOLYER; Occupation: Retired laborer; Cause of Death: Enterocolitis, senility."

The Daily Republican, 21 Aug 1914, Friday, Pg 2:
"HARVEY CLEVENGER DIES
Succumbs at His Home Southwest of Here at Age of 93.
Harvey Clevenger, 93 years old, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his son, Henry Clevenger, south west of the city after a long illness. Mr. Clevenger was well known and had lived here most of his life. Death was due to a complication of diseases and senility. On account of his advanced age he had made his home with his son for some time. Besides his aged widow he is survived by three sons, Henry, Fred and Joe Clevenger and one daughter, Mrs. David Fields. The funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning at ten o'clock at the last residence by the Rev. Mr. Wainscott, and burial will take place in East Hill cemetery."
