Velma Norine Bailey, 59, of Waldorf, Md., and formerly of Elkton, died Saturday at Southern Maryland Hospital in Waldorf. The cause of death was not available Sunday night.
Mrs. Bailey was born November 4, 1923, in Elkton, and was a daughter of Blanche Haney Shifflett of Rt. 3, Elkton and the late Jess C. Shifflett.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra L. Cockrell of Oxen Hill, Md, and Carol Ann Gale of Hillcrest, Md.; two sisters, Lena Reganus of Baltimore and Marie Morris of Staunton; three brothers, Bertrom W. and Willard J. Shifflett, both of Elkton, and Oliver R. Shifflett of Harrisonburg; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Brill Funeral Home in Elkton, by the Rev. Johnny Hensley. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
