Ruth Randle Felts, only daughter of James Owen Felts and Alice Lee Randle, was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma on April 22, 1904. She and her younger brother, George Randle Felts, grew up together in Weatherford.

Ruth attended Southwestern State Teachers College in Weatherford, earning a life teaching certificate for music. In 1928, she was Director of Music at Stroud High School in Stroud, Oklahoma. In about 1932, she married Glen Allen Day and they had one son, George Allen Day, born in 1933. Ruth died in 1964 in Oklahoma City.
