Wilma "Bill" Fender Wilson, age 98, of the Bald Mountain Community, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1st, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Ambers and Martha McCurry Fender and wife of the late Lester Wilson, who passed away in 1993. She was also preceded in death by daughters: Rita McCurry, who passed away in 1997 and Louise Randolph, who passed away in 2006 ; a granddaughter, Gail Anderson who passed away in 1997; sisters: Myrtle Williams, Burle Wilson and Harriett Blankenship and brothers: Gaither, McKinnley, Levi, Charlie and Chap Fender. She was a member of Bald Mountain Freewill Baptist Church who loved gardening, her flowers and visiting with friends.

Surviving is her daughter, Diane Murphy and husband, Jerry, of Huntdale; sons: Ken Wilson and wife, Debbie, of Waynesville and Glenn Wilson and wife, Phyllis, of Bald Mountain; grandchildren: Denny Wilson, Linda Randolph, Mickey Randolph, Melanie Fender, Sandra Wilson, Sharon Setzer and Jean Mathis and great-grandchildren: Luke Wilson and Brittany Anderson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3rd in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Brother Dayton Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday, February 6th in the Fender Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Of Yancey County at 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
