Son of Sam Norwood and Ella Jane Barnhill Collins, husband of Laura Hucks.

Mr. Ernest Wendell Collins, age 83 of Far Hills Dr. passed, away Monday June 21, 2010, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Mr. Collins was born June 19, 1927 in Marion, a son of the late Sam N. and Ella Jane Barnhill Collins. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Christian Fellowship Church.

He was predeceased by his wife Laura Collins, three sons, S. Wendell Collins, Lloyd W. Collins, Terry J. Collins, one grandchild Robert John Peavy, and one brother Justin Collins.

Surviving are one son Nathan Collins of the home; four daughters Iris Peavy and her husband Robert B. of Galivants Ferry, S.C., Treacie Dobbins and her husband Keith of Mooresboro, N.C., Rachel Skelcher of Galivants Ferry, S.C., and Miranda Smith of Summerville, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Christian Fellowship Church, Galivants Ferry, with the Rev. Randy Lemley and Rev. Michael McCracken officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
