He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Linnie Archer of Terre Haute, Maxine McDaniel and husband Ron of Indianapolis, Hester Blackwell and husband Bill, Debra Emerson and husband Kevin, all of Florida; and one son, Jimmy Archer of Hawaii. Also surviving are two stepsons, Hobie Richardson, and Bob Spruill and wife Debby, all of Terre Haute; five stepdaughters, Darla Shaffer, Marla Hylman and husband Don, Carla Mauwarski and husband Eugene, Linda Knight and husband Fred, and Helen Paez; all of whom he loved as his own children. He leaves behind a host of grandchildren, Jenifer, Rachell, Jenilee, Bobbie, Rubyanne, Randy, Crystal, Wendy, Samantha, Tracy, Derik, Donald, Gene, Carla, Kenneth, Samantha, Fred E., Jackie, and Cameron; three brothers, Richard of Munford, Tenn., William of Knoxville, Tenn., and John of Princeton; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed a full life, and was a loving husband and father to his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing during his earlier years, restoration of old automobiles and spending time with his beloved beagle, Leona.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th St., with services at 1 p.m. His brother, Richard Archer will officiate. Burial is in Highland Lawn Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the cancer charity of your choice in his name.
