Gordon Korean Casualty Returned Home for Burial
The body of M?Stg, George R. Banks of Fairmount arrived here Thursday at 11 a.m. Sgt Banks, the first Gordon County Korean war casualty to be returned home , died from wounds received in combat in Korea August 13, 1950. He will be accorded a full military funera.

M. G.t Banks Killed in Korea
Master Sergeant George R. Banks, 39 son of Dr. and Mrs. G. T. Banks of Fairmount was killed in action in Korea, according to word received by the family.
Herman Banks, Sgt. Bank's brother, said the family received a telegram Sunday from Maj Gen Edward F. Witsell, Adjutant General of the Army, notifying them of the death
M. Sgt. Banks was attached to the 34th Infantry in Korea.
No details of his death were immediately avaliable but the confirming letter is expected this week.
Dr. and Mrs. Banks have made their home in Fairmounty since 1929.
M. Sgt Banks is survived by his parents, his brothers, Herman of Fairmount, and M. W. Banks of Nashville, Tenn,
two sisters, Mrs. Woodrow McMillian of Atlanta, and Mrs Hugh Hull of Salem, Oregon
