Pansy King Thomas, 84 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at a local health-care facility. A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, Mrs. Thomas lived most of life in Hot Springs community. She was a member of Hot Springs Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Arvlee Thomas; parents Albert and Hattie King; sons-in-law, Dale Gunter and Ray Brown; three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughters, Betty Lou Norton and her husband, Woodrow, of Hot Springs, Shirley Brown of Weaverville, Barbara Waldroup and her husband, Kenneth, of Springs Creek, Lucille Brown and her husband Charlie, of Candler, Paula Costea of Twinsburg, Ohio, Susie Frisbee and her husband, Stevie, of Spring Creek, and Norma Hayes and her husband, Jim of Waldorf, Maryland: sons Calvin Thomas and his wife, Brenda, of Mars Hill and Doug Thomas and his wife, Mary Ann, of Greer S.C.; Sisters, Koeppie
Shelton of Morganton, N.C. and Robbie Gunter of Marshall: 15 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild.

The funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home. The Revs. Greg Warren, Larry Arrowood and Jimmy Dean Hensley will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eddie Fox, Chris Johnson, David Gunter, L.C. King, Alvin Chandley, Ronnie Bishop and Harry Tweed. John David Shelton will serve as a honorary pallbearer. The family will be at the home of Shirley Brown, 58 Ox Creek Road, Weaverville. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Hospice of Madison County, P.O. Box 909, Mars Hill, NC 28754.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Mayflower House and Madison Manor for the kind, loving and excellent care they provided our mother during her illness.
