Battalia, Salvatore Jack
8/16/54 - 6/1/10

Published in the Los Angeles Times on June 6, 2010

Jack was born in Monessen, PA, on August 16, 1954, and died in West Hills, CA, on June 1, 2010, at the age of 55 following a valiant battle with prostate cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack. He is survived by his mother Rosemary Coufal, step-father Robert Coufal, sister Maryrose (and Dan) Asher and Brother Joe (and Kim) Battalia, nieces, nephew, and grand-nephews. He also leaves behind step-children Brad White and Shannon White who always knew they could count on him. He also leaves friends too numerous to count, most notable among them Margaret and Jon Anderson whose caretaking, especially needed toward the end, was provided lovingly.
Jack most painfully leaves behind Janice, his "honey bunny" and beloved wife of nearly 25 years, whose love, companionship, and devotion sustained him to the end.
Though cut short, Jack's life was blessed with success in life and in business. He took great pride in the company he, along with his partner Dalibor Svoboda, founded in 1993, California Precision Hydraulics. Employees and customers were more than likely to be his friends as well.
Jack lived an extraordinary life with an immeasurable generosity. He was surrounded by family and loved ones who provided love, support, and peace during his final moments.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Shaye and the staff of West Hills Hospital for their professional care and for making the best of difficult circumstances.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 10:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 18115 Sherman Way in Reseda.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jack to the USC Kenneth Norris Cancer Research Center.
