On June 1, 1935, in Valparaiso, IN., Howard married Lavenia Coan, who in 1982 preceded him in death.
Surviving him are a son, William (wife Patricia) Charlson of LaPorte; a daughter, Judy (husband Chester) of Michigan City; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death are a son, James Howard Charlson; four brothers, Ted, Leonard, Norman, and Marvin; three sisters, Violet Charlson, Myrtle Smith, & Dorothy Jentzen; and a grandchild, David Heckman.
Charlson was a lifelong area resident who lived in Portage Twp., IN. before moving to LaPorte in 1961. In 1979, after 50 1/2 years of service, he retired as a tool and die maker at Wilbar Manufacturing Co., in Chesterton.
Funeral services, the Rev. Harold Mueller officiating, at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway in Chesterton. He will be interred at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, IN.
