Rev. Ralph Chappell, 64, of Townsley Drive, Cartersville, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008.

Rev. Chappell was born July 3, 1944, in Bartow County, a son of the late Samuel and Elmina Maxwell Chappell.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic from First Brands with 32 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Siniard Chappell; his children and their spouses, Cindy and Fritz Dent and Ray and Darla Chappell, all of Cartersville; his stepchildren, Nicole Abbott of Cartersville and Jason Fuqua of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Kyle Chappell, Alex Dent and Peyton Dent; sisters, Sarah Cain and Jane Newberry, both of Rome, Brenda Copeland and Sharon Morrow, both of Cartersville; brothers, Ronald and Wilburn Chappell, both of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Jessie Lee Chappell, Josephine Shinall, Ray Chappell, Sandra Chappell and Frances Edwards.

Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 8, from the Chapel of the Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Roberson and Rev. Morris Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Sam Fortenberry, Wayne Mauldin, Mickey Thacker, Phil Bryson, Jimmy Chappell and Robbie Murray.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Drive, Cartersville, is in charge of the arrangements.
