James John "Jamie" Greer, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in Sedalia, at his home. He was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Sedalia, A son of James Junior Greer and Mary Esther Dirck Greer. On Nov. 27, 1957, in Sedalia, he married to Tiny Jewell Gerlt, who survives of the home.
Mr. Greer worked in road construction as a crew foreman throughout his life and was known as "Jim" be his coworkers. He retired in 2000. He attended elementary school at Bothwell School and was a 1952 graduate of Hughesville High School. He was an Army Veteran, serving from 1954 to 1957, including duty in Korea. He was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church. He also was a member of Laborers Local Union No. 663 for more than 40 years. Also surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Lewis of Kansas City; Enid Crabb of Council Grove, KS.; and Suzanne Cover of Lincoln; four sisters, Joanne Gardner of Sedalia; Judy Kuzemka and Janet Weathers, both of Valpariaso, Ind.; and June Mittenburg of Hobart, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be Saturday at Ewing Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Parker, Junior Gerlt, Harvey Patterson, Dale Lewis, Perry Crabb and John Cover. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery, with Military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591
