Flight Lieutenant C.R. Davis was one of ten American pilots to participate in the Battle of Britain, during which he was credited with 5 confirmed aerial victories through the spring and summer of 1940. On 30 August 1940, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). Tragically, he was killed in action the following month when his Hurricane was shot down.
