Mary Bell Hensley Asher, 87 of Baxter went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 2, 2010 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital.

She was born in Martin's Fork (Smith), KY on November 29, 1922 to the late Enos and Annie Hensley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years Paul Asher; 5 brothers, Waldon Hensley, James Orville Hensley, Gilbert (Buddy) Hensley, Enos Hensley, Jr and Bert Hensley; 2 sisters, Phoebe Howard and Frances Brock.

Mary Bell was a devoted wife and mother with a humble, giving spirit, quiet strength and was the heart of her family. She is survived by 6 children, Waldon Asher and wife Rubena of Jamestown, KY, Eugene Asher and wife Kathryn of Wallins, Norma Asher and husband Joe of Catrons Creek, Margaret Bowman of Catrons Creek, Paula Johnson and husband Paul of Baxter, and Juanita Ball and husband Earl of Ages; 14 grandchildren, Barbara, David, William and Bill Asher, Lisa Sullivan, Allyson Caldwell, Joe Paul Asher, Mary Edith Asher, Stephanie Jordan, Todd and Tyler Bowman, Rachel and Laura Johnson, Mary Katelin Ball; 8 great grandchildren; 6 sisters, Virgie Roark of Hulen, Pearlie Saylor of Deerborn, Michigan, Betty Sue Shepherd of Alabama, Jurlean Britton of Smith, Letha Shepherd of Garden City, Michigan, Martha Ann Hensley of Alabama; 1 brother, Reverend Ernest Hensley and wife Gladys of Smith; special uncle, Sam Hensley of Baxter; special nieces, Judy Hensley and Etta Faye Bruce; special friends, Wanda Weaver and Barb Green.

Visitation for Mary Bell will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 6 until 9 at Anderson-Laws & Jones Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm on Monday June 7, 2010 at the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God at Smith with Reverend Ernest Boggs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery at Smith.

Pallbearers will be Joe Paul Asher, David Asher, Bill Asher, Todd Bowman, Tyler Bowman, George Caldwell and Johnny Jarboe.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Hensley, Earl Ball, Sr. and the Harlan County Honor Guard.
