Daughter of Hermon Reed Blake (1803-1859) and his wife, Nancy Miller (1804-1889), Julia Ann Blake was born at Franklin, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, on 20 July, 1833. On 15 Jan., 1852, she married Warren Nickerson King, a widower, at Franklin. Reported to have been "lame" (she walked with the assistance of a chair, pushed along in front of her,) Julia Ann bore 12 children, ten of whom survived to adulthood (son Erving died at just past 4-years of age, and daughter Ella Isabel died before she was 7-months old - both are buried in the family plot at City Mills Cemetery, Franklin, along with many other family members.)
