J. W. Peters of Hooker Street, a trainman on the Ulster & Delaware railroad was killed by being run over by a coal train near Kortright this morning about 2:30 o'clock. He was on the train when nearing Kortright, but when Oneonta was reached the conductor missed him.
Immediately a train was made up and proceeded as far as Kortright Station near which the dead body was found. The body was taken to Oneonta. It is supposed that Peters fell from the train between the cars and was instantly killed, as none of the men on the coal train heard any sound from him.
